Sclerder Abbey in Cornwall is a beautiful former Carmelite monastery half an hour by car from Plymouth and just ten minutes from the sea. When the sisters left Cornwall they invited the Chemin Neuf Community to carry on their work here of prayer and community life.
It is a perfect place to be silent and still, listening to voice of the Lord. You are welcome to come for a day or more to enjoy the peace and beauty of the place and spend time with God.
“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”
Genesis 2:15

In 2014, Cardinal Vincent Nichols asked the Chemin Neuf Community to run Cockfosters’ Catholic parish. The first members of the Community arrived in the parish on the 1st of September. In 2017 Fr Christophe Brunet was appointed parish priest. He lives in the rectory with another priest and a family of the Community. All are dedicated to the activities of the parish. In addition, other families living in the area who are also part of the Community are involved in the life of the parish.
It is a privilege to serve the Diocese of Westminster in such a dynamic environment. Many parishioners are involved with us in making this parish become ever more friendly and fired up with the Holy Spirit!
The Parish of Christ the King has a long story of community life, long before Chemin Neuf settled in. It was founded in 1936 by Abbot Constantine Bosschaerts OSB, who was also the founder of the “Vita et Pax” Foundation. After 77 years of presence and dedicated service of the Benedictines of Monte Oliveto in Cockfosters, the monks decided to withdraw from the Parish. In December 2013, Archbishop Vincent Nichols paid a visit to the parish and officially thanked Dom Bernard Akoeso OSB, the last of the Olivetan monks, for his tireless work over recent years. He then asked Chemin Neuf to take over.
Over the years, the Chemin Neuf Community has been asked to run many parishes in many countries in the world. Little by little, parishes have become an important dimension of our apostolate. This has enabled us to develop an uplifting vision of parish life.

In 2014 the Archbishop of Canterbury invited members of Chemin Neuf to live as a praying community at Lambeth Palace and help run a training programme for young people (the Community of St Anselm).
Together they share in the daily round of prayer that underpins the Archbishop’s ministry and further the ecumenical and international dimensions of his work.
The Community of St Anselm is an experience over one year for young people. Through prayer, study and service they learn more about themselves, others and God.
